Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

Working as part of a fast paced team and within a wider HR Function you will provide a professional, high quality service. You will be responsible for effectively operating payroll procedures and payroll related pension procedures in a timely, consistent and accurate manner as determined by the Company Payroll Policy for all employees. You will be able to operate Oracle payroll/HR system in accordance with the current controls and procedures.

Key Tasks

  • Analyse and verify all payroll and pension documentation received from authorised parties prior to payroll processing.
  • Verify and upload data files from various sources.
  • Analyse, verify and reconcile the payroll input.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies using payroll reports, involving other teams where necessary to rectify any issues.
  • Ensure that payment of wages/salaries is processed correctly into employee’s bank accounts on the due date according to the company's timetable.
  • Provide payroll information on a timely basis as requested by various internal and external sources, in accordance with GDPR.
  • Clearly and concisely investigate and professionally respond to any queries using the Case Management system, in accordance with quality and competency frameworks.
  • Analyse figures from payroll output in order to provide meaningful statistics/remedies as may be applicable.
  • Provide input into the shaping of policies and procedures across the business and work with line managers and the wider team to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and support the writing of the associated documentation, including process maps, work instructions and “How to Guides”.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of payroll procedures.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Honesty, integrity and consistency.
  • Competent with spreadsheets and high volumes of data.
  • Familiar with Oracle Payroll software (preferred).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PAYE/NIC and statutory payments and recoveries.
  • Familiarity with benefits and other wage deductions.
  • Multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to work to a deadline under pressure with minimum supervision.
  • Sound decision-making and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Applications and MS Office.
  • Ability to work in a team towards the same goal, building beneficial long-term relationships internally and externally to achieve the desired results.
  • Plan ahead realistically, prioritise and time manage.
  • Proactive thinking.
